Tonyin TP44 — 3-inch backing plate for the DA8

The TP44 is a low-profile backing plate for the Tonyin TY-DA8 mini dual-action polisher. Its nominal diameter is 3 inches (76 mm). The manufacturer describes a wear-resistant design intended to help reach tighter areas, distribute pressure across the pad and apply waxes, sealants and glazes.

Choosing a pad

Use a polishing pad that is designed to fit a 3-inch backing plate and has a compatible hook-and-loop attachment. Centre the pad so it is evenly supported; do not use a pad that is damaged or does not attach securely. The polisher and polishing pad are not included.

Fitting and use

1. Switch off the polisher and disconnect its power source (or remove the battery, where applicable) before changing accessories.
2. Check that the backing plate is suitable for the TY-DA8 and install it following the polisher manufacturer's instructions.
3. Attach a compatible 3-inch pad, centre it and check that the hook-and-loop face is engaged securely.
4. Before polishing, make a brief low-speed check in a safe direction. Stop if the assembly wobbles, vibrates unusually or loosens.
5. Apply wax, sealant or glaze according to that product's instructions, keeping the machine moving and using the pressure recommended by its manufacturer.
6. After use, switch off and disconnect the polisher before removing the pad. Inspect the backing plate and attachment face; do not use damaged or loose accessories.
